Do You Have To Store The Umbilical Stump At A Cord Blood Bank?

I still have the stump that fell off my baby’s belly button. I didn’t store it at one of those cord blood places. If my baby should get sick in the future could they still use it If it’s just stored in a plastic baggy,

No, it has to be stored at a facility. They are also finding the potential in the blood contained in baby teeth when they fall out, but they (like umbilical cord blood) are useless unless stored properly.

That would be a dried out piece of cord. It has nothing to do with cord blood. That would have needed to be done at birth and its the blood they keep. Not the cord. And it needs to be stored at a bank unless you have the equipment to store it yourself which doesn’t matter, its too late to store it anyways.

It’s not the stump they use, it’s the blood inside the cord. If you didn’t get it immediately after delivery, it’s too late now.
